（一）定语从句
定语从句通常由who, that, which来引起的。如果修饰人，一般用关系代词who。如果修饰物，用关系代词that和which都可以。当这个代词在定语从句中用作宾语时，在绝大多数情况下都是省略掉的。
例句：
The main reason that everyone can see is that television presents a vivid world in front of us.
每个人都能看到的主要原因是电视在我们面前展现了一个生动形象的世界。
Another factor we must consider is that television plays an educational role in our daily life.

★定语从句前面省略了that或which

（二）宾语从句
在这类从句前的连词that，有些情况下可以不用。例如在believe, think, suppose, presume等动词后连词that常不用，在say, see, know, hear, propose, understand, be told等动词后，连词that有时用有时不用。在大多数情况下还是以不省为好，特别是在写作中，这样更正式一些。

如果句子包含有两个或更多互不依从的主谓结构，就是并列句。并列句中的分句通常用一个并列连词来连接。并列连词包括：and, but, while, yet等等。

被动语态主要在下面几种情况下用：1、我们不知道或没有必要说明动作的执行者是谁（这时都不带由by引起的短语）；2、动作的承受者是谈话的中心（这时可带由by引起的短语）。
在汉语中被动结构的句子也是很多的，有些带有“被”、“受”、“由”等词，译成英语时较易想到的用被动结构。
一般来说，在英语中，如果没有必要，最好避免使用被动结构。如果在一个情况下，主动结构和被动结构都可以用，那还是用主动结构比较自然。
