1) Do you have any ideas about how to be a good student?

Different people have different opinions about how to be a good student. As for me, I think a

good student should have at least three important qualities.

First, a good student should be very diligent in his study.

He will spend a lot of time in studying, and the more he studies, the more he will improve his knowledge.

A great man once said, “Genius is nothing but labor and diligence.”

Second, to cultivate one’s own virtue is also very important. A good student should be honest, warmhearted, and always ready to help others.

Third, a strong body is essential for being a good student. Anyone who has not a strong body

can do nothing great for his country, even if he is very bright and intelligent.

Yes. I think environment has more influence on me than heredity.

Maybe heredity has also played a part.

Maybe that’s why I always feel easy to learn my lessons. But hard working is more important.

I’ve always been a diligent student. I ask myself to do everything carefully and be responsible

for everything I do.

That’s why I have academic success and I am still able to develop my other talents as in music. And my success should be contributed largely to hard working.

3) What do you think is the purpose of school education?

It’s true that children go to school to learn their own language, other languages, arithmetic, geography, history, science and all the other subjects.

But why do they learn these things?

Children are sent to school to prepare themselves for the time when they will grow up and will

have to work for themselves. Nearly all they study at school has some practical use in their life.

There is more in education than just learning facts. We go to school above all to learn how to learn, so

that when we have left school we can continue to learn.

A man who really knows how to learn will always be successful, because whenever he has to do

something new, he will rapidly teach himself how to do it in the best way. The uneducated person, on the other hand, is unable to do something new, or does it badly. The purpose of schools, therefore, is not just

to teach pupils various subjects, but to teach pupils the way to learn.

1) Are you in favor of college English teaching reform? Why or why not?

2) With the new teaching model people can learn English from computers. The computer brings

There are five main benefits:

a)presenting authentic spoken American English in a vivid and memorable way to students with little

or no exposure to native speakers, and who are studying in an entirely Chinese-speaking environment.

b)enabling students to practice using and repeating the new phrases and expressions they have learned in a safe, private and totally non-threatening environment.

c) enabling students to work at their own pace and their own convenience, without the time and other restrictions and imposed by classes running according to fixed timetables.

d)enabling students to assess their own progress and performance, so as to become more effective and efficient learners, able to direct their own learning process.

e) enabling teachers to monitor students’ progress and performance, so as to provide academic reporting, and, if desired, guidance to students to help them make the best use of their time studying.

3) Is the new teaching model in your university different from the one in your middle school?

And in which ways?

with each component supporting and complementing the others /student-centered activities/ a PC-based or campus-network-based multimedia listening and speaking /the development of autonomous learning ability

4) Are there any problems you have met with in adjusting to the new teaching model? What are they?

10. New teaching approaches

4) the teaching of reading, writing and translation conducted either in the classroom or online.

1.Is it possible for a woman to be a successful mother and have a successful professional career? Should society encourage or discourage women from combining the two? Yes, I think a woman can be a successful mother and have a successful professional career but it is a little difficult. Because women usually are the caregivers for husbands, children and, often, for ageing parents. And even in full-time employment, they are expected to continue to play this role. But I don’t think the two are conflicted. Society should encourage women from combining the two, because man and woman are equal. It is not just mothers’ obligation to care for the children. On the other hand, how difficult to find a job for a divorced woman in such a high-divorce society? Both men and women should learn to balance their work and family. 2. Should University students focus on their specialized areas or fundamental courses? I think university students should focus on their fundamental courses. Specialized areas are based on fundamental courses. For example, how can you build a tall building without a solid foundation? The same is true of learning. Usually the knowledge we learned in university are disjointed from development of society. So when we are applying for jobs after graduation, we may find the professional knowledge we have is out of date. It will be difficult to learn new things without a solid foundation. Despite all the apparent changes, what remains essentially the same are the fundamental courses. I believe fundamental courses are the roots of great innovation. 3.Should students choose their majors to meet their personal needs and interests or the need of society? I think students should choose majors to meet the need of society. Here are some reasons. First, from a personal perspective, the ultimate aim of going to college is to find a job and make money. So what we need to think about is how to meet the requirements of society and enterprises. Only in this way can we find a job easily so that we can realize our value. If we only consider personal needs and interests when choose majors, we are likely to fail to find a job after graduation.

Do you think “we all have a responsibility to be safe”? There is no denying that safety plays an important part in our daily life. Recently our school has carried out a program aiming at increasing our safety awareness. I consider this as indeed a good practice, which will remind us that safety should always come first in our daily life, whether when we stay at school or outside it. For example, when we are doing sports, we should attach great importance to safety and avoid being hurt. Besides, we should follow the traffic rules when we are going to school or when we are on our way back home. I firmly believe that we should develop a good sense of safety and do everything safely. What measures have been taken to prevent driving infractions like drunk driving and speeding in China? Driving infractions cases have been increasing and have caused numerous deaths. A more severe punishment should be given to those who drive after they have drunk, especially to those who are drunk and have caused serious injuries or deaths while driving. In order to crack downdriving infractions, the government should introduce a more severe law. Besides, more measures should be taken to cultivate the drivers’ awareness of traffic laws and respect others’ lives as well as their own when they are driving on the road, which I think should be the key to decrease drunken driving cases. Can you tell us how to escape a fire, esp. when you are in a high-rise building? As we know, no one knows for sure when a fire will happen, so it is extremely necessary to make preparations before a fire starts. To beginwith, checking the fire escape in advance and make sure that you can find it when lights have failed. What’s more, taking care not to be overcome by smoke, which containing monoxide gas, can kill you quickly. At last, cover your mouth with a wet towel or a wet cloth, and avoid getting into the smoke. In short, if you make preparations before and take precautions during the fire, chances are that you will survive in case of a fire if it really breaks out some day. What are the things you have to defend yourself so that you can have a peaceful and wonderful life?

3. 三个部分的测试中,第三部分的口头作文测试不够理想,普遍存在时态问题,如在表达my family时有同学表述为my father very like playing football,应该是my father likes playing football very much.

1.How can we keep friendship alive. Friendship is absolutely crucial for us. We have to do hard work to build up and sustain friendship. Here are some important ways to keep friendship alive .First of all,let your friends know that you care about them. If you can't be there at the given moment, say something like, "I wish I could be with you. May I call you tomorrow? "Be sure your friend knows she's cared about.Second, try to be with your friends when they are in trouble. Remember troubled people are most in need of their friends to stay around. The last but not the least, keeping friendship alive is to say to your friends "I miss you and I love you ". Remember? 2.Is it right for college students to have tattoos? Nowadays many college students like to highlight their personalities, to be their own. They have taken special ways to show their personalities. For example, some college students who are tattooed think tattooing is cool and shows great personality. But teachers and parents do not think tattooing is right for students. They believe to be a student you should dress like a student--no tattoos, of cause. Some people even believe that those who are tattooed are not good students. As far as I am concerned, although many people can not accept students’ tattooing, nothing is wrong with tattooing. College students are grown-ups. They can tell right from wrong. If they want to be tattooed, just remember to tell them to select clean places, preferably with parental consents. 3.What do cultural difference mean ? Can you give some examples? Cultural differences mean differences among people in ways of thinking, life, aesthetic concepts, social practices, diet and etc. Let’s talk about, for example, eating habits in different areas. In China, people prefer vegetables and fruits, for the Chinese believe that such things are rich in vc, which are good to health. However, western people are more likely to eat meat. Known as having a good tradition of hospitality , Chinese people always greet their guests with warm hand. Chinese meal table normally is filled with delicious food, yet the host is used to saying " I am sorry. I don’t think the food is good enough today" and other courtesies. Host or hostess sometimes use their chopsticks to take food to the guest’s bowl, which is considered as a way to show hospitality in China. However, in western countries, people emphasize respect to individuality. Yes, 18th birthday is considered the most important. Each birthday means a new year. I am most concerned about my 18th birthday as it is a sign of adulthood, indicating that I am no longer a child, but one who can try to do things independently and should be reliable for his or her own actions as an adult.

Friendship is absolutely crucial for us. We have to do hard work to build up and sustain friendship. Here are some important ways to keep friendship alive .First of all, let your friends know that you care about them. If you can't be there at the given moment, say something like, "I wish I could be with you. May I call you tomorrow " Be sure your friend knows she's cared about. Second, try to be with your friends when they are in trouble. Remember troubled people are most in need of their friends to stay around. The last but not the least, keeping friendship alive is to say to your friends "I miss you and I love you ". Remember it right for college students to have tattoos Nowadays many college students like to highlight their personalities, to be their own. They have taken special ways to show their personalities. As far as I am concerned, although many people can not accept students’tattooing, nothing is wrong with tattooing. College
