Conversation 1
气候变化和全球经济发展
W: Professor Henderson could you give us a brief overview of what you do ,where
you work and your main area of research ?
M: Well the Center for Climate Research where I work links the
science of climate
change to issues around economics
and policy。
Some of our research is to do with the likely impacts of climate change and all of
the associated
risks 。
W:And how
strong is
th
e
evidence
that
clima

is
happening
that it
‘ s
really
something we need to be worried about 。
M: Well most of the
science of
climate change particularly that to do
with global
warming is simply
fact 。
But other aspects of the science are less certain or at least
more disputed 。And so we ‘ re really talking about risk what the economics
tells us is that it ’s probably cheaper to avoid climate change to avoid the risk
than it has to deal
with the likely
consequences 。
W: So what are we doing ? What can we do
about it ?
M:Well I would argue that we need to
develop the
scienc
e specifically to
understa
nd
the likely impacts of climate change in
different contexts 。
As I said we need to understand the best ways of avoiding
climate change and this will involve a huge transition to low
carbon energy systems and the transition is
a tremendous priority 。
And for this to happen , we may need action on a global scale
from a political perspective 。

of passion being so
important and that people who really love
what they do 。 Of course you ‘re
going to want to work harder and put the time
and effort into it 。 And the funny
thing is that if you love what you do and are really passionate about it and work really hard , the money kind of comes

M: Susan, I am going to change the light bulb above the dining room table. Will you hold the ladder for me? W: No problem. But be careful while you're up there. Q: What does the man want the woman to do? 3. W: It's freezing cold. Let me make some coffee to warm us up. Do you want a piece of pie as well? M: Coffee sounds great. But I'm going to have dinner with some friends in a while, so I'd better skip the pie. Q: What does the man mean? 4. W: How come Jim lost his job? M: I didn't say he had lost it. All I said was if he didn't get out and start selling a few cars instead of idling around all day, he might find himself looking for a new job. Q: What does the man say about Jim? 5. M: Hello, Mary. This is Paul at the bank. Is Tony home? W: Not yet. Paul. I don't think you can reach him at the office now, either. He phoned me five minutes ago to say he was stopping for a hair-cut on his way home. Q: Who do you think the woman probably is? 6. W: Oh! Boy! I don't understand how you got a ticket today. I always thought you were slow even driving on the less crowded fast lane.

For example, 25% of the working people interviewed described themselves as 'very happy' at work. However, 20% of employees described themselves as being unhappy. 2018年6月英语六级听力原文 长对话1:西班牙蔬菜汤 M: What’s all that? Are you going to make a salad? W: No, I’m going to make a gazpacho. M: What’s that? W: Gazpacho is a cold soup from Spain. It’s mostly vegetables. I guess you can call it a liquid salad. M: Cold soup? Sounds weird. W: It’s delicious. Trust me! I tried it for the first time during my summer vacation in Spain. You see, in the south of Spain, it gets very hot and summer, up to 42 degrees Celsius, so a cold gazpacho is very refreshing. The main ingredients are tomato, cucumber, bell peppers, olive oil and stale bread. M: Stale bread? Surely you mean bread for dipping into the soup. W: No. bread is crushed and blended in, like everything else. It adds texture and thickness to the soup. M: um…and is it healthy? W: Sure. As I said earlier, it’s mostly vegetables. You can also add different things if you like such as half-boiled eggs or cured ham. M: Cured ham? What’s that? W: That’s another Spanish delicacy. Have you never heard of it? It’s quite famous. M: No. Is it good too? W: Oh, yeah, definitely. It’s amazing. It’s a little dry and salty. And it is very expensive because it comes from a special type of pig that only eats a special type of food. The ham is covered in salt to dry and preserve it, and left hung for up to two years. It has a very distinct favor. M: um, sounds interesting. Where can I find some? W: It used to be difficult to get Spanish produce here, but it's now a lot more common. Most large supermarket chains have cured ham in little packets. But in Spain, you can buy a whole leg. M: A whole pig leg? Why would anybody want so much ham? W: In Spain, many people buy a whole leg for special group events such as Christmas. They cut it themselves into very thin slices with a long flat knife. Q1 What do we learn about gazpacho? Q2 For what purpose is stale bread mixed into gazpacho? Q3 Why does the woman think gazpacho is healthy? Q4 what does the women say about cured ham? 1。A。It is a Spanish soup 2。C。To make it thicker。 3。B。It is mainly made of vegetables。

Q3: What kind of companies are popular with employees? Q4: What is the possible reason for people on part-time contracts to be happier? W: Mr. De Keyzer, I'm a great lover of your book Moments Before the Flood. Can you tell us how you first became interested in this subject matter? M: In 2006, when the concert hall of the city of Bruges asked me to take some pictures for a catalogue for a new concert season around the theme of water, I found myself working along the Belgian coastline. As there had been numerous alarming articles in the press about a climate catastrophe waiting to happen, I started looking at the sea and the beach very differently, a place where I spent so many perfect days as a child. This fear of a looming danger became the subject of a large-scale photo project.
