1 学在南国（概况）

广东外语外贸大学南国商学院是一所由广东外语外贸大学举办、国家教育部批准成立的本科层次的独立学院。

学院位于中国著名历史文化名城和华南经济文化中心广州市。校区坐落在广州市白云区广从公路旁。学院环境幽雅，空气清新，湖光山色，绿树成荫。学院设备设施齐全，师资力量雄厚，教学管理严格，是莘莘学子治学成才的理想之地。

学院全面实施高等学校本科教学质量与教学改革工程，确保教育教学质量，在办学水平、学生素质诸方面，获得社会的广泛认可和肯定。

学院重视并积极开展对外学术文化交流，已与美国、英国、加拿大、韩国、日本、德国、西班牙等国数十所大学或文化学术机构建立合作交流关系，为学生提供在读期间出国学习的机会，为毕业生开辟出国深造的途径。

1．Learning in SCBC (Overview of SCBC)

South China Business College (SCBC), founded in 2006 with the authorization of the Ministry of Education and proteged by Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS), is an independent college mainly for

undergraduate education.

SCBC is situated in Guangzhou, one of the economic and cultural hubs in China. Located near Guangcong Highway in Baiyun District, the campus has access to convenient public transportation and enjoys a favorable natural surrounding. It is an ideal place for higher education thanks to the college fully-equipped with teaching, learning, living and entertaining facilities, as well as a market orientated educational notion and a highly-motivated and experienced teaching and managing faculty.

To ensure the teaching and learning quality, the College is now undertaking the undergraduate teaching reform project of higher education and hence enjoys good reputation with regard to its teaching level and students’ comprehensive ability.

SCBC attaches great importance to and actively conducts academic and cultural exchange programs with foreign counterparts. By communicating and cooperating with universities and educational organizations in foreign countries such as the United States, Canada, Australia, France, Japan, South Korea, the college provides students with direct access to overseas study and training.

SCBC now has 10 departments and divisions. Four disciplines are offered, including literature, economics, management and engineering which are covering 18 undergraduate programs. The 10 departments and divisions are as follows:

3. Message from the President

Message from the President:

Adhering to GDUFS’motto, “enhancing morality, emphasizing performance, learning across Chinese and foreign cultures”, SCBC sticks to the educating model o f “understanding the basics, refining on specialties, bettering in languages, honoring concrete practice” and strives to cultivate competent graduates having global vision. The college focuses on improving quality with its own characteristics and pursues excellence. The aim is to train innovative, practical-minded and global talents with comprehensive qualities with high-quality in both morality and expert knowledge in both cross-cultural communication and information technology. The college firmly implements the strategy of cherishing quality, emphasizing talents and prevailing features on the way to first-class private colleges in China.

4 师资力量Teaching and Faculty

我们实施人才强校工程，坚持培养和引进相结合，坚持“优化结构、培养骨干、造就名师”的师资队伍建设方针，落实加强师资队伍建设的各项措施，努力造就一支结构优、素质高、充满生机和活力的高水平教师队伍。

100多名教授和副教授，包括有享受国务院特殊津贴专家、国家教学名师、南粤优秀教师等；

2006—2010年，全院教师在省级以上刊物发表学术论文500多篇，出版专著、教材近100种

4. Teaching and Faculty

The college implements the principle of integrating training and hiring talents. In improving the faculty quality, it adheres to the guideline of optimizing the structure, developing the elite and cultivating renowned teachers. Various measures have been taken to strengthen the teaching team. Efforts have been made to create high-level faculty full of vigor and vitality with reasonable structure and higher quality.

There are more than 100 professors and associate professors, including specialists who enjoy special government allowances, the national distinguished teachers, and Southern Guangdong outstanding teachers, etc.

2006—2010, teachers in the college have published more than 500 research papers in academic journals at or above provincial-level, and almost 100 species of monographs and textbooks.

5人才培养Talent Cultivation

学院视教学质量为学院发展的生命线，致力于教学理念、教学模式的改革创新。

在课程建设、双语教学、教学团队、人才培养模式创新实验、大学生创新实验、教学改革、实践教学、学生文化素质教育等方面取得了一定的成效，如开设的外语实验班、双语教学班、模拟商务谈判、模拟商品交易会等，为学生就业和终身发展奠定基础。

5. Talent Cultivation

The college has viewed teaching quality as the lifeline, dedicated to reform and innovation of teaching idea and mode.

Considerable achievements has been made in curriculum development, bilingual teaching, faculty teamwork, innovation of personnel training mode, experiments of students’ creativity, teaching reform, practical teaching, and student quality education. For instance, the college has carried out experimental classes of foreign languages, bilingual teaching classes, simulation business negotiations, and simulation trade fairs and other simulation to lay the foundation for the employment and lifelong development of the students.

6 学科建设和科学研究

我们重视教研、科研工作，注重教学团队和科研团队建设，在课程体系构建、课程开发、教材建设、教学方法改革、人才培养等方面进行积极探索和深度研究。我们强调重点课程、重点学科和研究所等的培育、布局和建设，全面提升科研水平和学科竞争力。

6. Discipline Construction and Scientific Research

The college attaches importance to teaching and research, emphasizing teaching team and research team development, having done in-depth exploration and research in the construction of curriculum system, curriculum development, teaching material development, teaching method innovation and talent cultivation and etc. We are also paying special attention to the cultivation, layout and construction of key courses, key disciplinary areas and research

institutes, to improve the overall level of scientific research and the competitive ability of university disciplines.

我们注重凸显强外语人才培养模式的特色。学院是外语语种最多的独立学院。

在专业设置上，不断探索“外语+专业”和“专业+外语”的融合。

学院在经济类和管理类专业中开设双语教学课程和全英班，使得外语特色覆盖多数学科和学生。

此外，我们积极开拓“国际化”办学道路。为让更多的学生拥有海外学习经历，学院积极拓展留学平台，先后与韩国、日本、美国、法国、德国、西班牙等多个国家的数十所高校建立了合作关系。同时设立留学基金，资助学习优异的学生到国外学习。

7. Internationalization Feature

The college highlights the features of foreign language learning in educating mode.

Concerning curriculum design, the college explores the combination of foreign languages and other majors. In economics and management majors, bilingual education programs and Economics and Management in English classes have been set up, making foreign languages a feature in most subjects for most students.

The college actively explores internationalization in its educating mode. To provide experience of studying abroad for more students, the college endeavors to tap channels of studying abroad and has established cooperative relationship with a number of universities in countries like South Korea, Japan, the United States, France, Germany, Spain and other countries. Special funds have also been set up to support outstanding students to study abroad.

At present, there are 7 foreign language majors in the college, including English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean and Arabic.

Over 20 foreign teachers are from 11 countries in the college

About 20 diplomats lectured in the college

There are about 40 overseas universities and institutions linking with SCBC

More than 500 students experienced overseas exchange, internship and training.

我们鼓励并引导学生举办各种形式的文化类竞赛和活动，发展各种特色社团，为学生发展兴趣、展示才华构建一个自由的舞台。

9 社会服务与实践

青年学生志愿服务理念深入人心。在广州亚运会和亚残运会上，我院志愿者坚守岗位、热情服务、向社会展示了我院学生的良好精神风貌。

南国学子的身影也活跃在中国进出口商品交易会、各大型赛事场地和“三下乡”活动中，在社会上表现出良好精神风貌和青春活力。

9. Social Services and Practice

In SCBC, voluntary service is deeply rooted in the mind of students. In Guangzhou Asian Games and the Asian Paralympics, the Students demonstrated a good spiritual outlook with responsibilities and services.

Our students are also active in the China Import and Export Commodities Fair, the major event venues and the activity of Bringing Three Services to the Rural Areas, in which they show good manner and youthful vitality.
