【母题原题】Seeing blood in a horror movie might make you cover your eyes, but real blood isn ’t scary at all. 66 That ’s why blood donors are considered lifesavers.

Blood donors are those giving blood — usually about 200ml at a time — to blood banks or blood donation

(

捐 赠 ) centers. 67

For example, someone may have lost blood in accidents, or have a serious illness that

requires his blood to be replaced. Hospitals and blood banks store the blood and try to keep enough on hand.

68 Medical workers ask donors several questions to make sure the blood is safe to use. Then the donors

relax, often reading a magazine or talking as their blood is drawn. Afterward, the donors may receive some juice or

water and maybe fruit to give them energy. The process is simple, not scary. 69 To give blood, a person must be at least 18 years old and must meet certain other requirements.

Students of all ages, though, can learn more about the donation process by visiting a local blood donation center. 70 It is also an easy way to help a community.

A. Donating blood is not difficult.

B. Then the blood can be used for people in need.

Many people complain that their memory is bad, especially as they get older.Life would be much easier if we could remember them all effortlessly. So how can we improve our memory?

Many people think that repeating things is the best way to remember them.16psychologists(心理学家)doubt whether it can help you to remember things for very long. The British psychologist E.C.Stanford seemed to prove this point when he tested himself on five prayers(祈祷文)that he had read aloud every morning for over 25years.17A more helpful way, especially for remembering numbers,is grouping the information. The

following numbers would be impossible for most of us to remember.1492178919931848.But look at them in chunks, and it becomes much easier:1492178919931848.

So what about"memory training"?We’ve all heard about people who can memorize packs of card by hea —how is this done and can anyone learn how to do it?18Many of them involve forming a mental picture

of the items to be memorized. One method, which may be useful in learning foreign languages,i s to create a picture in your mind connected to a word you want to remember.

19In experiments, people were asked to remember up to120words using this skill; when tested afterward,on average, they were able to recall90%of them!

However, not all of us are interested in learning long lists of names and numbers just for fun.For those studying large number of information, psychologists suggest that the best way to form meaningful connections is to ask yourself lots of questions as you go along. So, for example,if you were reading about a particular disease, you would ask yourself questions like:"Do people get it from water?","What parts of the body does it affect?"and so on.20

A. To share some ways of improving memory.

B. According to experts, there are many ways of training your memory.

C. He found that he could remember no more than three words of them!

D. Another method is to invent a story that includes all the things you want to remember.

Hobbyists raise pets, watch birds, paint pictures, play the piano and grow flowers. 66 They collect everything from books to butterflies and from boxes to stamps. People take up hobbies because these activities offer enjoyment, friendship and relaxation. Hobbies help people relax after a long time of hard work, and provide a balance (平衡) between work and play. Hobbies offer interesting activities for the old. Some hobbies can make a child grow as a person, develop his interest and help him learn new skills. 67 Doctors have found that hobbies are useful in helping patients (病人) recover (恢复) from illness. Hobbies give patients who can’t move around something to do, and provide interests that keep them from thinking about themselves. Many hospitals treat (治疗) patients by having them take up interesting hobbies. 68 In early times, most people were too busy making a living to have many hobbies. But some persons who had spare time did enjoy hobbies. 69 People today have more time than ever before for hobbies. Machines have now reduced much time that people must spend on their jobs. 70 Those who have developed hobbies never need to worry about what to do with their newly-found free time hours. 上海市初中毕业生统一学业考试英语试卷 阅读部分 F. Answer the questions(根据短文内容回答下列问题): ( 12分) 08年 English is an important international language, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy to learn. Many experts have tried to make English easier to learn —but they weren’t always successful. In 1930, Professor C.K. Ogden of Cambridge University invented Basic English. It had only 850 words (and just eighteen verbs) and Ogden said most people could learn it in just thirty hours. The problem was that people who learned Basic English could write and say simple messages, but they couldn’t understand the answers in ‘real’ English! It was also impossible to explain a word if it wasn’t in the Basic English word list. R.E. Zachrisson, a university professor in Sweden, decided that the biggest problem for learners of English was spelling, so he invented a language with the name Anglic. Anglic was similar to English, but with much simpler spelling. ‘Father’ became ‘faadher’, ‘new’ became ‘nue’ and ‘years’ became ‘yeerz’. Unluckily, Anglic never became p opular. In the age of international communication through the Internet, who knows what will happen? ... a new form of English might appear. A large

【英语】英语中考英语阅读理解及答案1 一、初三英语阅读理解(含答案详细解析) 1.阅读理解 What do you see when you look at abstract (抽象的)art? Can you understand it? Does it look like anything? Abstract art became popular in the early 20th century. Artists did not want to paint, draw, or sculpt things exactly like they looked. They didn't want their art to be realistic(现实的). They were more interested in basic shapes and colours. Picasso is probably the most famous of these artists. He painted and drew in many, many styles. Sometimes he used a lot of blue colours (his "blue period"). Later, he used more red and pink colours (his "rose period"). Many of his other paintings are called "cubist (立体派的)" because they are made of painted squares. After a long time, Picasso's paintings became more and more abstract. He painted people and things using strange shapes. His work was so strange that many of his workmates didn't understand it. Kandinsky, another famous artist, used lines, shapes, and patterns to paint his subjects. His paintings also used strong colours to express feelings. Other artists like the surrealists (超现实主义画家),were interested in subconsciousness (潜意识). Painters like Breton and Magritte used many symbols in their work. The meaning or subject of their work wasn't always clear. Dali, another surrealist artist, painted pictures that looked like dreams. There are still many abstract artists around the world. That's the way many artists prefer. They want each person to look at art and find their own meaning in it. (1)Which would be most like abstract art? A. A painting of a house. B. A sculpture of a car.
