一、课程的性质、目的与任务:

本课程是英语专业本科高年级学生的专业必修课。本课程的目的在于使学生对英国文学形成发展全貌及其主要内涵有一个大致了解:通过阅读具有代表性的重点作品,理解作品的内容,学会分析作品的艺术特色,掌握正确评价文学作品的标准和方法,提高文学欣赏水平及其文学批评能力;通过了解英国文学创作的社会背景和文学思潮及其他们之间的相互关系来把握文学作品的文化内涵,提高对英国文化的认知能力;与语言教学相结合,增强学生语言表达能力。

三、课程的教学要求:

通过本课程学习,使学生对英国文学的形成发展的全貌及其主要内涵有一个大致了解:通过阅读具有代表性的重点作品,提高学生的文学鉴赏能力。鼓励学生多做课外阅读,通过文学作品,提高学生对英国文化的认知能力并增强学生的语言表达能力。

一、教学目的与任务

本课程是英语专业本科本科学生的专业必修课程,是为培养和检验学生美国文学

的基本理论知识和理解、鉴赏美国文学原著的能力而设置的专业理论基础课程。本课程的教学目的是使学生对美国文学形成与发展的全貌有一个大概了解;并通过阅读具有代表性的美国文学作品,理解作品的内容,学会分析作品的艺术特色并努力掌握正确评价文学作品的标准和方法。通过阅读原著,努力提高学生英语语言水平,增强对美国文学原著的理解,特别是对作品中表现的社会生活和人物思想感情的理解,提高他们阅读文学作品的能力和鉴赏水平。本课程的教学任务是使学生了解美国文学史的发展,熟悉美国文学的全貌,掌握文学批评的基本知识和方法以及不同文学流派的主要特征。在此基础上培养学生阅读、欣赏、理解美国文学原著的能力。在授课过程中,通过阅读和分析名家名作,提高学生对英语的敏感性,促进其语言基本功和人文素质的提高。

二、课程的基本内容

第一章美国文学绪论

教学目的:通过本章教学,使学生明确美国文学的性质、学习目的和任务,以及教学方式,让学生对美国文学的4 大时期的概况有所了解。了解美国文学发展的历史及阶段的划分,美国文学的特点,为后续的学习奠定基础。

教学内容:回顾英国文学的发展史;对应英国文学史的不同阶段;简介美国文学发展史

重点:美国文学史各阶段的划分;各阶段的文学思潮和著名作家、作品。

难点:英国文学史和美国文学史阶段的划分与英美文学各时期文学背景、重要作家作品对比。

第二章殖民时期的文学

教学目的:通过本章的教学,了解美国17 世纪初至18 世纪末殖民时期文学产生的历史、宗教、文化背景、其基本文学形态和特征;概要了解该时期的主要作家和他们的创作思想,艺术特色和主要作品的主题思想和语言风格等.

教学内容:(一)美国殖民时期文学概述和美国殖民主义时期代表诗人

教学内容:

重点:现实主义文学产生的历史、文化背景,该时期文学创作的基本特征、基本主张及欧洲达尔文主义和法国自然主义作家的主张以其对现实主义时期美国文学的影响。

难点:指导学生结合注释读懂该时期著名作家作品;理解并分析其作品中蕴含的丰富内涵、主题和象征意义。以及现实主义、自然主义、地方色彩主义等名词的解释。

三、课程的教学要求

本课程是英语专业的必修课程,是构成学生人文素养的基础。在该课程的教学过程中,要求教师对有关作家作品以画龙点睛式的介绍,针对性地引介国内外尤其是近期的研究成果,引导学生细读作品,课堂上给学生以尽可能多的时间和自由进行思考和讨论,最大限度地调动学生的积极性和主动性,重点培养他们的文学阅读能力和评析能力。在教学方法上,要将讲授和讨论、多媒体课件等多种方法结合起来,充分发挥学生的学习主动性。

本课程的考核,采取闭卷考试形式,卷面成绩占期末总评成绩的100%。

在以上教学要求的基础上,本课程的考核内容分为两个层面,一是基本概念、各时期的文学思潮的理解和把握;二是对名家名作的分析和理解。总的的目的是考察学生是否具有一定的分析欣赏能力。
